A Preview of What's Inside
Four things that decide how a Las Vegas night goes, and that most groups only learn the expensive way.
- Check the room is open
- Plenty of major clubs run only three or four nights a week, and rooms close for renovation without much warning. Confirming that your venue is actually operating on your date is the first step, and skipping it is the most avoidable way to lose a night.
- Arrive in the first hour
- Almost every venue rewards it. Wynn advises table guests to arrive between doors and about an hour after for the best seating, and holds tables for the first two hours of an event. Dayclubs are stricter still: doors are often 11 AM for a day that ends by early evening, so a mid-afternoon arrival buys half of what you paid for.
- Read the dress code for that specific venue
- They are not interchangeable. The same resort can permit dressy jeans and clean sneakers at its nightclub while refusing jeans outright at its dayclub, where swimwear is required. Athletic wear, tank tops and work boots are near-universal refusals. One person dressed wrong slows down the whole group.
- Decide table versus guest list honestly
- A table buys space, a place to put people, and a smoother entry, it is worth most to larger groups and to anyone who wants somewhere to sit. Guest list, where it exists, usually means reduced cover in a narrow early window rather than guaranteed entry. Picking the wrong one for your group size is the most common way a night gets expensive or frustrating.
